AutoBRIDGE | Setout Points & Coordinates Workflow

Setout Points & Coordinate Extraction

Complete workflow for embedding coordinate markers into bridge corridors and exporting data for site setout usage.

Phase 1: The Location Family

01Create Location Family

Create a new Generic Model Adaptive family to serve as your location tracker.

02Identify Shape

Create a simple circle or any identifiable shape at the adaptive point. This allows you to easily identify the point when loaded into the main nested family.

03Ensure Shared Property

Ensure the location family is set to Shared within the Family Category and Parameters dialog.

TIP: You can directly use the location family located in:
..\\Documents\AutoBRIDGE\Modeler\20XX\nested_family_template\

Phase 2: Nested Family Integration

04Prepare Nested Family

Create your custom nested family for the corridor or use one of the existing templates located at:

..\\Documents\AutoBRIDGE\Modeler\20XX\nested_family_template\

For more details, refer to the:
Add Custom Nested Family Workflow
Once ready, load your Location Family into this nested family.

05Duplicate Types for Point Names

Duplicate the location family type for each specific point name on the section (e.g., Right_Edge, Left_Edge, Top_Center, Bottom_Center).

06Map Points to Section

Place each named point at the exact location on the nested family section geometry. Save this nested family with a new unique name.

07Add to Family Manager

Open Family Manager in AutoBRIDGE and add your new nested family to the system.

Phase 3: Corridor Generation

08Create Corridor

Generate a corridor using this nested family via any AutoBRIDGE method (Civil3D, 3DPolyline, or 3DMass). Refer to the Corridor Creation Workflow.

09Generation Complete

The corridor is successfully created with embedded point locations at all sections and stations.

Phase 4: Extraction & Documentation

10Coordinate Extraction

Open the Coordinates tool in AutoBRIDGE and select your corridor. The system automatically identifies all points across all stations.

11Export and Schedule

Choose to export the coordinates to a CSV file for site use or add them to a Revit Schedule for documentation.
